Super Resolution Mode

With the ZenFone 3 Zoom’s Super Resolution Mode, users can create an ultra-high resolution, 48 megapixel photo. It achieves this by using g special image-processing techniques to capture and combine four 12MP photos to create a much larger single image with greater detail and less noise. This high resolution photo has the advantage of appearing clearer on higher resolution monitors, or when printed on larger format photo media A4 sized or larger.

Manual Mode - 2.3x Zooming in

2.3x zoom camera used. Manual mode, 2 second exposure, ISO 200: Shot from a tripod with a slow shutter speed and lower ISO, the photographer captured the falling waterfall as an artistic, silky blur. The lower ISO selected also helps to control the graininess of the photo. Learn more on 'Complete guide to all 23 shooting modes on the ZenFone 3 Zoom'.

32 Second Slow Shutter & Long-Exposure Mode

The most impressive feature of the ZenFone 3 Zoom’s manual controls is the slow shutter mode that allows photos to be shot with up to 32 seconds of exposure time. Few smartphones offer a slow shutter mode, and among the few which have one, none allows for such a long exposure time.

Long-exposure :

Typically used for low light or night photos, this mode is ideal for shooting night landscapes, capturing the light streaks of passing traffic or capturing stationary subjects in very low light conditions, without the harsh lighting of a flash. This mode needs the phone to be shot from a stable, non-moving platform, and is best used with a self-timer so that the pressing of the shutter button doesn’t cause shaking that will blur the resulting photo.

Unrivalled Smartphone Audio

When you listen with ZenFone 3 Zoom you’ll treat your ears to audio that you simply won’t hear from other smartphones — because only ZenFone 3 Zoom has SonicMaster and High-Res Audio certification. With an advanced five-magnet speaker construction, metal voice coil and expansive sound chamber powered by an NXP Smart AMP, you’ll enjoy powerful, emotional audio in every scenario. When it’s time for immersive listening, plug in your favorite compatible headphones or earbuds and experience true High-Res Audio quality everywhere you go with ZenFone 3 Zoom’s studio-grade 24-bit/192kHz playback — that’s 4x better than CD quality. You’re even able surround yourself with sound, with built-in support for DTS Headphone:X 7.1.

Going pro has never been so simple

ZenFone 3 Zoom’s Manual mode puts pro-level creative controls right in front you, for a DSLR-like experience that fits in a pocket. These include one-touch control over shutter speed, white balance, EV, ISO and metering, plus two features unique in the ZenFone range to ZenFone 3 Zoom: support for the professional RAW photo format, and the ability to switch instantly between the dual lenses for either 25mm or 59mm focal length. Shoot wide or close, and store every original detail — pro photography has never seen so simple.

Note: RAW support will be available with Android 7.0 (Nougat).

Selfie with So Much Detail

ZenFone 3 Zoom has an advanced dual-lens smartphone-camera system — and it’s also a selfie superstar. The remarkable front-facing camera employs a 13 megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor for high-resolution selfies, and the ASUS SuperPixel Technology can further enhance the light sensitivity up to 2 times. Screen Flash feature turns the entire screen bright white for brilliant illumination in low-light environments. Combined with the ZenUI Camera app’s unique Beautification and 140° Selfie Panorama modes, you’ll shoot selfies with more detail than ever before, add instant glamor and ensure that every friend is in the frame.

Focus as Fast as 0.03 Seconds

We’ve upgraded ZenFone 3 Zoom with ASUS TriTech+ Technology, adding an all-new Dual Pixel PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) system that uses similar technology found in DSLR cameras. Every single pixel on the Dual-Pixel sensor is used for phase detection, enabling auto-focus that’s so incredibly fast that even the most sudden movements are captured — even when the light starts to fade. TriTech+ also features Subject-Tracking Auto-Focus for both photos and videos to keep the subject in clear focus, and Laser Auto-Focus for variable distance and lighting clarity in just 0.03 seconds.

Efficiently Powerful, Effortlessly Fast

ZenFone 3 Zoom’s elegant beauty veils monstrous power, including a 64-bit, 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB memory and desktop-grade Adreno 506 graphics performance. This powerhouse has revolutionary 14nm Fin Field Effect transistors (FinFETs) to deliver full-on performance while reducing power consumption by 35%. Also, ZenFone 3 Zoom has a 4G/3G dual-SIM bay for complete flexibility so you don’t have to carry two handsets.

Capture the Realistic Moments

Smartphone photos are marred by unnatural colors, typically caused by artificial lights — so ZenFone 3 Zoom has a RGB color correction sensor to capture the true scene. It detects the type of light and automatically applies the best settings to achieve the perfect balance for natural looking colors. ZenFone 3 Zoom shoots video at up to 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) — or 4 times the quality of Full HD! There’s nothing complicated for you to do: just point, shoot and share your memories, all captured with incredible levels of detail.

Exceptional Energy for Every Photography Adventure

ZenFone 3 Zoom’s incredible cameras will encourage you to take more photos, more often — and that’s why we’ve fitted a high-capacity 5000mAh battery that can even charge attached devices much like a power bank. With this vast power resource hidden within ZenFone 3 Zoom’s slim 0.3-inch frame, you’ll simply stop worrying about battery life. Enjoy the reassurance of shooting photos all day, every day — as often as you like. And you won’t stop at photos: with so much energy in store, record videos in glorious 4K UHD quality for as long as you need; or set ZenFone 3 Zoom’s Time Lapse mode to create transition sequences that capture all day and through the night.

Disclaimer: Battery life may vary depending on usage type and conditions. 12 hours was determined by looping 1080P video playback at 100 nits and with airplane mode on.

It takes two to see up close

ZenFone 3 Zoom sets a new bar for mobile photography, combining two entirely new camera systems. A 12 megapixel ƒ/1.7 aperture, wide-angle lens with ASUS SuperPixel Technology is primed to capture everyday scenes, especially in dark environment; and a 12 megapixel 2.3x optical zoom for high-quality close-ups from farther away. Switching between ZenFone 3 Zoom’s dual cameras takes just an instant, and the combination enables an all-new depth-of-field effect. ZenFone 3 Zoom’s true 2.3x optical zoom lets you shoot super-sharp, close-up photos and videos from right where you stand, and with just a single tap. When you want to feel even closer, use ZenFone 3 Zoom’s improved digital-zoom technology to ramp up the magnification to a 12x view — and with clarity that’s hard to believe.

Sensational Display with The Toughest Glass

With a super-bright 500 nits AMOLED technology, 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, and a color gamut that’s greater than 100% of the NTSC color space, everything ZenFone 3 Zoom displays looks as vibrant as real life. ZenFone 3 Zoom incorporates the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5, for protection that has up to 70% better drop resistance and is precision-milled with a gentle 2.5-dimensional contour to the edge, for a finish that feels as natural as your grip.

A phone you can use however you want, whenever you want

Phenomenal phone!! Outstanding camera combined with the best battery life you can get on a smartphone! I took it off the charger at 8:00am Saturday and it is now 9:00pm Sunday, my phone is at 30% with 6 hours of screen on time!! I have had a phone addiction, i have had more phones than probably anyone you have met. Over the last 5 years I have averaged 3 or 4 per month. But sometimes I have had multiple phones in one week. I have had most of the flagship androids and Windows phones that have been released in that time.
I HAVE FINALLY FOUND A KEEPER!

I mainly got this phone for its battery life, and I must say I'm not disappointed! It is so nice not having to think about battery life, unlike all my past Android phones (Galaxy S1, Galaxy S4, LG G3). I can now use my phone whenever I want and however I want without having to think about when to recharge it next.

The phone's not perfect of course, but for its price you shouldn't expect it to be. The fact its still running Marshmallow is a bit disappointing. People complain a lot about the Asus UI too, and while it's not great it isn't distracting either. I'd recommend finding an Asus theme you like and using a different launcher, like Nova, to fix most of those issues (a few screenshots attached for example). No NFC may bother some people as well (no Android Pay, for example), and the band 12 issue will affect those not on AT&T, which I am using. For its price though these concessions aren't surprising.

The camera is a bit of a mixed bag too. With good lighting it works really well, to the point that it can be confusing how quickly it focuses- you'll wonder if it took the picture since it happened so quick. But low light, which is something advertised as being awesome, comes out a little grainy, which I would have expected if Asus didn't hype up my expectations first.

I'll add that Asus did a few things well that other manufacturers don't too, such as allowing you to disable or uninstall any app, having the phone unlock after inserting the correct PIN without having to hit "OK" (something I have previously had to root to accomplish), and having a one handed mode accessible by a hardware key shortcut. The microSD card slot is nice too, since this device could easily double as a music/video player with its long battery life.

Again, for its price it is everything I had hoped for and more. It is a smooth running phone that I can use without the nagging thought of how my use will affect the battery life. I'd take that over a Galaxy S8 any day!

Great pricing $329 and great battery (5000mAh)

My previous phone was an iPhone 6. I have been in iPhone ecosystem for almost 5 years so I thought it's time to try something new. The phone advertised to have decent camera, great pricing $329 and great battery (5000mAh). I got the phone 3 days after it's made available in US.

Screen - Beautiful screen, however it seems the sensor to for brightness of the screen isnt working well... or that I don't know how to adjust it or I have messed it. I kind of expect it to work out of the box.

Camera - decent camera, lots of settings including children setting where it plays some sound to capture kid's attention so you can snap a picture. The pictures are way better than my iPhone 6 and videos are just slightly better. There are a few small issues with the camera / app. Camera app has crashed a few times randomly. There is a delay to start video recording. I haven't investigate other camera apps yet, but hopefully both issues can be resolved in new updates / new apps.

No NFC - I was using Apple pay occasionally, it's not a deal breaker for me.

Battery - I charge my phone once every 2 days so far. I think it could go for longer depends on my usage and when I would like to charge it. (I plug in the phone when it's below 40%)

CPU - Qualcomm 625 processor. This is not the fastest processor like 835 at the time of writing, however it's fast enough for videos, music, some casual games that I've played. Opening up apps like Hangouts, Line and others are super fast.

OS - Android 6. This is my first Android device and so far i love the ability to customize everything. I hated the keyboard and the default video player, so I downloaded some apps to replace those. The best part about Android is no need for iTunes. iTunes has changed me so much to the point that I don't copy video to my iPhone because of it's difficulty. Not able to remove random documents and data that mysteriously takes up gigs on iPhone was a pain as well.

Asus - They have a number of apps, but I don't use majority of them. They don't really bother me because they are sitting in a folder.

Fingerprint Sensor - This is one of the thing that if it doesn't work well, you will notice it. Yet if it works well everything is smooth. So far it's been working great. The only thing I had to get used to was it's at the back of the phone as oppose to the front.

Extras:
  • USB C cable, earphone, charger, SIM tool and clear silicon case (YES! No need to spend extra money on a case!)
  • I have not used the earphone yet.
  • Works on T-Mobile.
Conclusion: For the price, I think it's a great phone.

Top Notch Camera and Battery

It was quite a journey to this phone. Since the Nexus line has been eliminated, and the Pixel line is out of my price range. I purchased a Honor 6X and was disappointed, then purchased a G5 Plus 64GB and while this was a improvement I did not like the camera quality of the device. ASUS focuses on what actually matters to users on this phone and made what heck of a quality phone at a great deal. The camera is incredible, fastest focus I've ever seen on a smartphone. The battery goes above and beyond the competition. The amoled screen is something you don't find often at this price and looks fantastic! Everything runs smooth, and fast. Amazing how slim the phone is with such a large battery! The sound quality is good out of the speaker and with the aux. Only downside to this phone is a. glass screen protectors don't fit right (the outside of the screen curves) but it has gorilla glass 5 so I'm going without, and b. there are no decent cases at the time of writing this. I hope this changes soon once people start buying this more when they seen how great of a phone it is!!!
